Botanic Gardens (Thorndon side)
Sunday, 23 February 2014
There was lots going on to sketch today: a brass band concert on at the Soundshell, with lots of people picnicing on the grass, and some quite surreal art installed throughout the gardens...
Worldwide Sketchcrawl #42: RPNYC and marina
Saturday, 25 January 2014
A beautiful day and we had a great time sketching around the marina and waterfront by the RPNYC. We saw lots of people learning to sail, kayak, windsurf and paddleboard, and we sketched the blue boatsheds and the various boats in the marina too.
Lambton Quay & Station
Saturday, 7 December 2013
Rain, wind, possibly hail...we tried to sketch around the Beehive, but gave up & sketched indoors instead. It was wonderful to meet the lovely & very talented Lim Su Min from Singapore Urban Sketchers who was visiting Wellington & braved this weather to come sketching!
Plimmerton, Porirua
Saturday, 23rd November 2013
An amazing, spring day on the coast. We sketched along the gorgeous Plimmerton waterfront and finished at the cafe on the corner.
Worldwide Sketchcrawl #41: Days Bay
Saturday, 19 October 2013
We sketched on Days Bay Wharf all morning (perfection!), and finished up with a coffee at the Pavilion Cafe. A beautiful spring day and a really fun time sketching & chatting. You can also see our sketches on the Worldwide Sketchcrawl website.
Queens Wharf
Saturday, 28 September 2013
We braved the breeze at first, and sketched on the waterfront outside Ferg's Kayaks. When the wind became a bit too strong, we went and sketched indoors at the amazing Museum of Wellington City and the Sea, and finished up with a hot drink at a nearby cafe.
Oriental Parade
Saturday, 31 August 2013
Finally, some great winter sketching weather. We sat on top of the Fisherman's Table Restaurant sketching to the east and west, and agreed that there is so much to sketch along Oriental Parade that we will have to come back again!
Art Gallery and Civic Square
Saturday, 3rd August 2013
Unfortunately, we didn't go to the Petone Festival event as planned, although in the end the weather was better than we thought it would be. Instead, we sketched around Civic Square, the City to Sea Bridge, and the Lagoon, finishing with a stop at the cafe.
Worldwide Sketchcrawl # 40
Saturday, 13th July 2013
We met at the cable car lookout and then went to the Carter Observatory. Finally, we went down to the cafe for a yummy lunch and sketched the area around the Begonia House. A fun day. You can also see our sketches on the Sketchcrawl website.

Paekakariki, Kapiti Coast
Sunday, 30 June 2013
A beautiful afternoon. We sketched on the restored Paekakariki Station, sketching the historic trains, the restored buildings, and inside the railway museum. Afterwards, afternoon tea in the ever- funky and friendly Perching Parrot cafe.
Te Papa Marae and Te Papa
Lunchtime sketching, Wed 19 June 2013
A few hardy souls braved the weather (this was the day they were predicting snow!) and sketched at our first lunchtime meetup. We visited and sketched at interesting spots around Te Papa, especially the magnificent Marae.

Paraparaumu Beach Market
Sat 15 June 2013
This really vibrant market has a wonderful community vibe. It was lovely to sketch it in action and reward ourselves afterwards with a coffee at the cafe next door.
Te Papa, Wellington
18 May 2013
Another rainy autumn day, so we moved our planned Oriental Parade meetup to indoors at Te Papa. So many things and people to sketch here, and a great cafe.
Worldwide Sketchcrawl # 39: Wellington Harbourside
13 April 2013
Great to see everyone! We didn't get such good weather today to do the full planned sketchcrawl. We sketched Civic Square from Wellington Library instead, and had lunch in the cafe.
Wellington Station
23 March 2013
A gorgeous morning with no breeze. We sketched on the seats outside the station.

Hutt River Trail
Sat 17 March 2013
We sketched with the lovely and very welcoming Pumpkin Cottage Revival Artists. Great scenery and increasingly dark clouds, but no rain.
Harcourt Park Invitational Jousting Tournament
Sat, 16 Feb 2013
Always a fascinating, amazing, and very professionally run event. Great food (and mead!). People were very friendly, and happy to be sketched.
British Car Day, Upper Hutt
10 Feb 2013
Another great summer day. Hundreds of beautiful cars and bikes. Very little shade though. Sketching in the morning may be the ticket next time.
Battle Hill Farm Market, Porirua 26 Jan 2013
A beautiful summer day. There was heaps of shade to sketch in, and lots going on to sketch.
Matui Somes Island
4 Jan 2013
Lots of great views of the harbour, lighthouse, and foreshore. An island with a really interesting history. The wind picked up a lot in the afternoon though.
